Get set for some festive fun with these enchanting events

Whether you’re living in student homes in Meanwood, or student accommodation in Hyde Park Leeds, Yorkshire’s largest city has a whole host of events lined up for when the mercury drops.

Winter Wonderland

This year, Millennium Square will play home to a Winter Wonderland with an ice rink, Igloo Bar and pop-up market stalls from Friday 26 November. The traditional Carousel will return in Cookridge Street and there’ll be a brand-new Tipi on Briggate.

The Pantomime

What better way to get into the festive spirit, than watching a pantomime? This year, there are two spectacular shows to choose from. Follow the GENIE-us journey of Aladdin as he soars through the skies in his quest for fortune and true love. Or add some Rock ‘n’ Roll to your evening with Beauty and the Beast, mixing traditional elements of audience participation and funny gags, with a jukebox full of classic rock anthems and chart toppers, all performed live on stage.

Chow Down

Gather round fire pits, visit the rooftop curling club and enter the two-storey Hütte bar from 11 November at Chow Down. There’ll also be Christmas tipis, a food village with rotating street food traders each week, plus The Stage will play host to drag, disco and club classic brunches, not to mention live bands and DJs.

Christmas at Harewood House

Dive into a world of pure imagination at Harewood from Saturday 13 November. Go on an immersive tour of the beautifully decorated house, pick up gems from the Festive Gift Fair and enjoy the Upon a Christmas Wish play.

Thor’s Tipi

Enter a Nordic winter wonderland at Thor’s Tipi from Friday 19 November as Victoria Gardens welcomes a Viking-inspired pop-up bar. The rustic tents will serve up mulled wine, hot drinks, cocktails, wine and craft beers. There’s even a hot chocolate station, street food and fire pits.

Grease Lightening

Re-discover the reason why the world’s best-loved musical is the one that you want, by heading to Leeds Grand Theatre from Monday 29 November. Join Danny’s Burger Palace Boys and Sandy with her Pink Ladies for a whirlwind summer romance that leads to a whole host of trials and tribulations. If that doesn’t sway you, the fact that Peter Andre is playing the part of Teen Angel sure will.

Abba Winter Wonderland

Experience the greatest ABBA tribute night this side of the North Pole on Sunday 30 November. Dance and sing along to some of the biggest disco jams and power ballad anthems from the era.
